Yesterday was Steve’s birthday. The boys absolutely look up to him in so many ways and I look forward to when Steve can have a different kind of bond with them they way he envisions doing so. Steve recently purchased a remote control race car as part of his birthday present and always talks about the moment when he and the boys can go off on the weekends and race. A coworker of his who also has twin boys, but 10, recently made a similar purchase and so it will be neat to have something like that to look forward to in the future. Steve also finds enjoyment talking about building things with the boys when they are older or remodeling projects, etc. Although I never want to rush these years, I know how much fun all three of them will have. I think the boys are capable of handling these moments now, but timing is of the essence and at some point they can experience more of this fun.
Steve started his morning by opening his present from the boys and the wonderful homemade card. I tried to snap as many pictures as I could of him opening his present, but since the boys LOVE to help with things they had his card and present just about opened. I love canvas pictures these days and they really do make the perfect gifts. Steve got me one for my office a while back. There was a photo Karley snapped of the boys that is one of Steve's favorite, which is the one I had framed as a canvas print. I compared different companies because I was looking for a certain size, one that he could have on his desk. DPR has an open office environment and do not believe in offices thus they do not have wall space to hang pictures. I found a site that allowed me to order a smaller version with an easel so he could place it on his desk. He then went to the hobby store during lunch to get more remote control car parts...as my gift to him.
Steve’s parents were on a two week cousin trip to wine country. They planned their return trip just perfectly because they were home in time for his birthday. We spoke to Steve’s mom during their trip and she said that they would be home earlier enough and would take care of the boys so we could go out and celebrate Steve’s birthday. We have always wanted to go to Javiers. There are two locations, Irvine and Newport Beach. We opted for the Newport Beach location because it is the place to people watch. It was a lot of fun. After dinner we stopped at his coworkers place in San Clemente for a drink and then "I" (LOL) drove us home.
We had a good time celebrating his birthday out, and look forward to a week of continued excitement. Happy Birthday, Steve!
As I do with every special occassion, I have the boys participate in a photo shoot. Here are some photos that Cheyenne was able to capture of the boys wishing their Daddy a very special 35th birthday!

Julie
