Mother's Day 2012

I have to say that I am very lucky to have two awesome boys that helped make "Mommy's Day" special. I am just as lucky to have a mom that is there for me no matter how far apart we live.  Not to mention she is my best friend.

I started "Mommy's Day" (as the boys call it) by opening my cards/homemade cards from the boys, and skyping with my mom to a mimosa. I got the most beautiful white roses too. Soon afterwards, Steve got the boys out of the house so I could enjoy my cup of coffee and get ready for the day. We had alternate plans to go down to San Diego, but because the boys are just starting to feel good we decided to take a break and spend our special day at home. Steve's parents came over around 11:30 to help with the boys as Steve was taking me out to have a nice lunch. We decided to go to The Shore downtown San Clemente. It was very busy because it was so warm and sunny, but probably because everyone was out and about with their Moms enjoying the beautiful day. Steve got a text the boys were napping and we were home about 30 minutes after to enjoy the afternoon sitting on our patio out back. The boys took a nice, long nap. Eventually we started getting dinner ready and Steve grilled his marinated flank steak, grilled lettuce with all the best salad toppings, and asparagus.

I had the most amazing day, reflecting on my role as a Mommy. I even took the day off from my other role of Mamarazzi (aka Mom that takes tons of pictures because I don't know when to stop). As a Mom, I may not have all my ducks in a row, or I might not always have it together, but that does not make me a Mommy in question. I don't pat myself on the back often but now is a moment I can do that because I give it my all day in and day out. I never expect gifts on any special occasion because all of that is simply materialistic. My life changed for the better when I became a Mom. I was blessed with two little presents on June 6, 2009 and will forever have those moments to reflect on each and every day! The best gift I think any Mommy can have is when your children light up saying, Happy Mommy's Day! Ummm...priceless! All that is important to me is that my boys think I am GREAT!
