What a fabulous weekend. Sad to say that it has comes to an end, but here is to another weekend and an upcoming three day weekend! Allergan and DPR are closed on the 21st to observe President's Day. I think we should do something that involves R&R since we will have Karley. Hmmm...brain is ticking for ideas.
Steve and I met his cousin Tracy for lunch on Friday. Shortly into our visit she looked at us and said it is great that Taylor (her daughter) is able to babysit for you tonight. :) I said oh, news to me. HA. So, Steve up to his tricks of surprising me, which I LOVE, backfired. But, I was so excited to hear that we got a sitter because my week at work was VERY LONG and CHAOTIC. It was great to go out. Steve took to me the Fisherman's located on San Clemente Pier. (look back at the post Chicago visits San Clemente). There are two different restaurants, a bar type place and a more sit down restaurant on the other side. The weather was great, not too windy and the heat lamps were on. It was nice to hear the sounds of the waves crashing and look forward to the first time we can take the boys to the beach. We ordered fresh fish; Steve got the Sea Bass, and I got the Mahi Mahi with salad and rice. Yum.
In any event, the love bugs had a fab-u-lous weekend as we celebrated V-Day. We started on Saturday morning talking to my mom/grandma via Skype. I always feel so sad because it is great to see her and I know she wants nothing more than to reach out and give the boys great big hugs and kisses. As Steve and I said thou the boys are turning 2 (WOW...) in a matter of about three months so she will be here in no time. The boys love to skype; they know exactly to walk over to the computer and point. :) In any event, we hung out and played indoors/outdoors for some time. Although Zach woke up not feeling 100%; a slight head cold. Jack was a little under the weather too but not much. It explains their lack of appetite over the past week. So we gave them a lot of TLC and worked through the day. Steve kidnapped them for a bit on Saturday to run an errand. This was great because I got to take a shower, and not feel rushed. Since the boys were a little under the weather they ended up going down a little early. They woke up around 6:30 and so that meant...SNUGGLE SUNDAY! I love them and it has been a long time since we had a Snuggle Saturday or Sunday. I talk to the boys all the time, you don't know this but Mommy and Daddy would do this, or you would do that, etc. They look at me like okay, yep, for sure I know what you are talking about. HA. So, we watched a little Sprout in bed and then had our morning sippy of milk. They boys appeared a little better. They still wanted to be held and cuddled. We talked to Grandma and Grandpa (Steve's parents) via Skype so they could open their presents. They got music cards, toys (pull along puppy, which they love...diggers, and Ernie bath toys), play clothes. After Skype we changed and daddy kidnapped them again and took them to Costco to get some things. I swear, we should just take up stock. We try so hard to budget shop since the kids eat so much fruit, but it never works out that way. I was able to finish the laundry and get ready. Steve said there were two other sets of twins. Funny. He said he hears one guy yell it gets easier as he has 9 year olds and another younger lady ask does it get easier. Everyone that knows Steve, his answer is nope! HA. Just kidding. Let's just say we have our good days and bad days. Hey....anyone know the game monkey see monkey do. Just ask our boys...they love that game. So, the boys come home and I served them a home cooked meal hopefully I was able to make them feel better. I make homemade mac and cheese. I also served up blueberries and bananas and fresh carrots. They were really starting to get tired so we put them down for their nap. In case I didn't mention, they have been doing really good with 1 nap now. There are days they will sleep only 2 hours, but then there have been days when they nap for 3 hours. We aim for the same time every day but we have never woken the boys, we just let them wake up because they only know when they need to nap and for how much. They only time we would wake them is if their nap goes beyond 4pm. In any event, Steve came home from yet another grocery store run and surprised me with roses. It was sweet and thoughtful. The boys didn't nap very long thanks to Jackson. SO I hear him in the monitor go upstairs to pick him up and I see that Zach is still sleeping. I stepped in something that was wet feeling and look down to realize I am holding a naked baby. He took his diaper off and had peed so then the commotion woke up Zacharoo who clearly needed to sleep. Sorry little man. So then I had to do laundry yet again. :) We had our snack outside and played more. They are doing very good at listening to us when they go by the street. They hear a car and they walk closer up on the driveway. Such good boys.
Well, our weekend has come to an end. I hope our love bugs are feeling better, at least they seem be doing great. They went to bed early again for a good nights rest. Steve took a couple of pics of the boys on his phone so I hope to have them sent to me soon. I know, too many pics that I have to post. :)
Well, here is to a great V-Day from one coast to the next.
Love,
The Helland's
