So, as a follow-up to my last post about kids being kids and we cannot always be right there to catch every fall or prevent every accident. About two, maybe three weeks ago now we were out and about and decided to visit one of the parks in San Clemente. Those with kids can remember when their children started to walk and how nice it was when it took one minute to get some where, but now it take like 20 minutes. HA! The boys love investigating, checking out new scenery, etc. Well, as we were walking up this small gravel road to get to the park, Zach just like that turns around and decides he wants to go in the opposite direction. Just as Steve said I'll go get him Zach took by far the WORST fall yet. Kids at this age are picky choosy when it comes to doing what they want and of course this was a day when they were not keen on holding Mommy and Daddy's hands. Steve ran to get him and said, "yep, we need to go". I picked up Jack and when I made it over to Zach I think I made him more scared because I could not imagine my eyes. I gasped and said oh Zach! The poor little boy had scraped his nose, there was blood, and of course skin missing. Then I look down at his cute little knees that were scraped, and a little section on his arm. Goodness. We got him cleaned up and decided let's of course make our way home. They both fell asleep in the car for about 30 minutes, which was good because Zach really needed to calm down as he was so upset, more sad because he could sense (by my reaction...oops) that something was wrong. I always try to be strong but my first reaction when I saw him was more shocking because this is the first time we had to deal with blood and scraped knees and arms. I was able to snap a photo from that day. Lo and behold, kids do heal fast. After the first 4 days he was back to new.
