Our Sunday was just that…a fun day. The boys woke up with the roosters at about 5:45. Ahem… a bit early for the weekend. It is not because of school either. They have been getting up this early since December for whatever reason and perhaps their bodies are now becoming acquainted of what feels right for them. I am associating their early awakenings to that of the toddler bed. I don't understand how the two could be connected but perhaps it is a part of the Independence they gain as toddlers. Before then they were sleeping in much longer most mornings. I will pick my battle because they do good otherwise even if we have a day where they choose to be otherwise. We did invest in a Tot Clock a while back and started using it this past weekend, so I believe in “time” they will understand the concept. It is actually a cool clock and maybe we will reap the benefits one of these days. The clock is designed to adjust when you need the kids up M-F and then on the Weekend. At night the bunny lights up showing the boys he is sleeping, and then when the alarm goes off, you hear roosters in the background lighting the up bunny that is walking with a backpack. HA. [I walked in this morning to get the boys and Zach was sitting up in his bed thinking what the he** is a rooster doing in my room; it was funny]. However, like for me, I don’t need much sleep and maybe Zach takes after me in that regard. I don’t know. There are moments when they do sleep in, but for the most part they are still getting the desired amount of sleep a toddler (at almost 3) should be getting. In any event, Steve slept in while I got up to be with the boys. They did really good; we played with trains, went over letters and counting, read books, played the piano, and even took baths. Steve then joined us and we ate breakfast. At that time since they were already dressed for the day, Steve was going to get them out of the house since the sun was out and it was close to 70 degrees. Since we were able to tag team, I then was able to go for my walk, do some laundry, and get ready. While I was walking Steve sent me a picture via text. They were on a train. He took them to the OC Zoo for a little and the boys had such a good time. I know there are some challenges with this age but they are also at an age where Steve can take them out like at the zoo and they are mindful of his direction and behaved.
After they got home from the zoo, and since it was such a perfect day, they wanted to continue playing. Jack asked for a snack but it was close to lunch so I brought lunch outside. Sometimes this does not work so well because they want to play so we played “Drive Thru”, a great way to eat…HA! Shortly thereafter we made our way inside to get ready for nap. So I was hoping. Jack did great and as soon as his head hit the pillow, he was asleep after 5 minutes, even all throughout Zach’s meltdown of not wanting to nap. Clearly he had a different agenda in mind that involved nothing but playing. I gave in and so be it…no nap. I think he could tell that he made me a little sad inside because while playing he would look at me and say, hi… with a half grin. Maybe it is his way of telling me, hi…I got my way…followed by a half grin. Eventually Jack woke up and we found ourselves back outside playing, running off a lot of energy. Steve decided to mow the lawn too while it was nice and the boys decided to help out, getting the job done quicker! I like how the boys watch Steve in everything he does. When he is done mowing the lawn, he bounces the mower up and down a couple of times to shake the loose grass clippings off before storing the lawn mower. The boys will do that with their lawn mower too. They are sponges! We then mingled with our neighbors for a little and headed back inside to settle down before bed. We captured a lot of pics and videos from the day.

| HI... |
Here is a video of the boys playing hockey. They clearly know what they are doing...AND after I talked to Zach about not throwing the hockey stick he decides to throw it again. True hockey players folks...
Love,
