.Great Weekend.

It started with Friday. Jack woke from his afternoon nap feeling congested, I started to feel sick Friday at work, and the weekend arrives and bam --- all of us are sick. I hope we all start to feel better soon because it is never fun to be sick. More so Steve and I are also leaving Thursday bright and early to head back to Chicago for a very long weekend.

I really wanted to take the kids Saturday to the annual fall harvest in Irvine, but then we received our blinds earlier than expected. Steve installed them pretty much all morning so that ate up the time, but they look so good and cannot wait to finish the rest of the rooms. Additionally, I started to feel worse as the day progressed so it was one of those days of just bummin' around the house. Steve and I needed a little break because the boys were just being typical toddlers, which led them to fight us during nap time, so they did not nap at all Saturday. This happens only on rare occasion...thankfully. Steve's parents were very generous to watch them again so we could get out of the house for some peace and quiet. They watched them too on Friday and we appreciate it SO much.

Although we have been congested, Sunday was much better. Steve and I started the day by making the boys pumpkin shaped pancakes; they thought it was cool looking. After breakfast we got the boys ready and took them to the OC Zoo with Nana and Papa. It was very BUSY because of Halloween just around the corner, and we had a great time. Our first stop was to get in line for the train ride. They boys did so well standing in line for about 30 minutes; not one peep other than saying go because they really wanted to get on the train. Once we were on and the Train Engineer sounded the horn, they were all smiles and we were off! After the train ride we then made our way over to pick out pumpkins and ran through the hay maze. We got two small pumpkins perfect for J and Z. Nana then bought mini pumpkins for each of her boys and they carried them around all day, even slept with them. :)

We put our pumpkins away and then walked over to the zoo. They boys always have a good time at the zoo and we enjoy taking them. I don't think the trip to the zoo will ever get old! I am looking forward to sharing the excitement with my mom when she comes out for her annual winter visit. The park/zoo should be decorated for Christmas by then. :) Our favorite spot was the petting zoo. Jack was having such a good time just running all over the place. It is so fun to watch them engage with other kids and I look forward to when we put them in preschool. After the zoo we stopped to have lunch at the snack stand. Yummy. There was another set of twins, Jack and Izzy. From there we made our way to one of the parks so they could run around more and play on the slides. We were hoping to get back on the train one last time but it was 1:00 and the line was VERY long. We then decided to make our way home for the afternoon, and then try for a nap. We weren't sure if they would pass out on the way home because they walked so much instead of getting pulled around in the wagon. Since the zoo is only 20 minutes away, we made it home in time and were in bed for nap at 2pm. They didn't fight us this time probably because they were exhausted from all the running and walking around at the park/zoo. After 10 minutes of chit chat they both fell asleep until just after 4pm. They surely needed a nice nap.

It was yet another fun weekend and hope my love bugs feel better soon! Steve and I are looking forward to our trip and I am sure there will be a lot to write about considering each day is packed full with activities.

I am most excited because I thought we were going to miss Trick or Treat but here in CA it falls on Halloween night and starts at 6ish.

Although we were all feeling a bit under the weather, it was a great weekend!

Enjoying our Sunday night relaxing, trying to feel better.

Love,

Julie
