| Jack (he wanted his sunglasses on and then walked over to get his guitar...HA!) |
After we got out of bed this morning, of course this pushed a few things behind schedule...oh well. Jack has not had much of an appetite the past few days. He has had cereal and oatmeal (with PB and raisins). Hey...bring on the fiber and protein. My poor little boy. After breakfast we cleaned up and got them ready for one of our scheduled weekend errands...COSTCO. I love Costco. The carts hold two kids because it is perfect for us. Zach lately has been tapping his hand on the ground for anyone to come join him whether it is me, Daddy, or his brother. After we put Zach in the cart he tapped his hand in the seat next to him for Jack. So sweet. There must have been about 5 people who said, "Oh I have a set of those but they are much older" to "I am a twin!". I guess we just never knew how many "twins" exists in this world. A couple of people walked by and said uh oh...watch out girls. Ha...okay. We got home and I made somewhat of a homemade cream of chicken soup, added carrots and rice. I thought with Jack being a little under the weather he might like it...nope. He just did not have an appetite. I wanted him to have something so he did end up eating a little bit of oatmeal.
Since the boys woke up a little later we put them down just a tad bit later for nap; Jack could have gone down at normal time, but I just knew Zach would only play and possibly keep him up. We put them down at 1:30 instead of 1:00pm and after 5 mins...good night. Jack slept until 3:30, slightly thereafter, and Zach slept until 4pm. When I brought the boys in for their 24 month check-up I asked about sleep patterns; some days they will nap for 3 hours, other days 2 1/2, and then some days maybe an 1 1/2 hours. What gives Doc?! He said this is and can be typical. Toddlers at this age will sleep about 13-14 hours a day. I said okay this is accurate given they will sleep for about 11 or 11 1/2 hours at night and then sleep fairly decent during the day. Moving along. I asked Steve where he wanted to go for dinner and at one point we thought about getting the boys exposed to another restaurant, Chili's. Then I mentioned Hooters because he loves the wings, and hey this would be the boys' first trip. Since Jack was on and off again, just looking at him melted my heart event though he is not that sick. I sense it is probably allergies that have hit him hard. He has been in a good mood, but we thought let's just go to Los Patios and then head over to the pier and then perhaps stops at Fisherman's for a drink. We went to Los Patios for dinner, yummy. They had a Father's Day Special of NY Steak Fajitas and complimentary Flan. Yum! Steve and I split the entree since you get so much beforehand (chips/salsa and choice of soup or salad). Plus...it is just a great place to bring kids! After dinner we went down by the pier since the day/evening turned out to be lovely! Zach was insistent on walking as much as we could down the pier. Once we stopped to look at the families enjoying the water, surfers catching some waves, Zach kept pointing and saying "Go" down the pier. :) Alrighty...so we went! :) We did not stop at Fisherman's because there were no open seats next to the rail...we thought the boys would love watching the surfers.

We made a pit stop at the grocery store to buy pediasure for Jack. He didn't eat much of anything today and just wanted to be certain he was getting something with vitamins and protein. A bit of advice is if kids are feeling dehydrated to give them G2 (Gatorade 2...less sugar) vs buying Pedialite. Once we took Zach to the doctor and the doctor on call said buy the G2 because it is really the same as Pedialite and half the cost! It does work.
Overall, it was a splendid day! Steve was able to celebrate an early Father's Day with his dad a couple of weekends ago since he was in town. They were able to enjoy a game of golf at Talega Country Club.
Something about Steve is that he is very hands on with the boys. Although there was a moment many moons ago when Steve didn't want any children, and look now we have our boys! Do they test his limits, his patients...for sure; I think all kids know how to test their parents---it comes with the territory. Steve enjoys being a father to Jack and Zach. I think a couple of the best times he has with them is when we get to snuggle in bed with the boys and when the boys help him in the yard; he really enjoys that. Now that the boys are getting older, of course personalities are taking shape more and more each day; not to mention they are doing new things almost every day. Today, while we were in bed snuggling, Zach looked at me gave me a kiss and then looked at Steve and gave him a kiss...without us even saying, "give love". Goodness gracious. It is moments like that when you have days that don't go accordingy to plan seem like a distant memory. Steve knows how to love the boys and when to be there at all times even when days appear to be more rough than others, and that means the world to me. He doesn't give up, he keeps on going. I hope the boys as they get older see the dedication he has as a Father and to keep those thoughts close to their hearts. Steve, thank you for always being there.
Happy Father's Day! (click the play button to see his special card...be sure sound is on!!)
