As a typical Friday afternoon brings us, Steve picks me up from work around 4:45. But...it just so happened that he was in a meeting that ran over (welcome to my weeks at Allergan ;) ), so he didn't pick me up until 5ish. Every Friday we generally take the toll way because although we car pool, the car pool lane can even be backed up come Friday rush hour. So it begins, 8 hours earlier. We were discussing listing our house again during the course of the week, but this time attempting to see if we could locate a renter since the economy is not doing so great. As we discussed with our realtor that most people are trying to get back on their feet from losing their job so most often than not right now you find people that are willing to rent in order for them to build up a pool of cash for a down deposit. That is what we did, took her advice and decided lets see if we can find a renter. Friday was the day that she officially listed our house. Well, as luck would have it, that afternoon we found a couple willing to rent our house. He had some health issues from working himself into the ground and that said he and wife got into some financial troubles because of his medical bills. They have now have been able to get out from under that situation and started a new life; fell in love with our home. As we were driving home from work we were in the process of negotiations, etc. What is even better is they are signing a 2 year lease and are thinking about buying our house when their lease is up (cross our fingers for then)--AMEN! Sure...pay down our mortgage for us. :) Shortly after we received that call, we were at the toll booth getting ready to whip out our $5.50. As we pull up the attendant said, no need to pay, the car in front of us just paid for you....a random act of kindness. Steve and I look at each other and said, well, this is surely a nice way to end the work week; find a renter and don't even have to pay the toll today!
Moral of the story...timing is everything!
