Remodel

I thought while the boys are napping I would try to add a new post about the remodel. Steve has been working his tail off trying to meet the deadlines so that we can move one week today...um AMEN AMEN AMEN! :) Okay, so he and his father (big thank you to his dad for helping him out the past 2 1/2 weeks and also thank you to his mom for watching the boys here and there in the evening so we can go out to dinner and not have to pay a sitter..the checkbook certainly needed a break---THANK YOU!) have been working from early in the morning to some days late in the evening. Day 1 was gutting out the carpet where hard wood was going, gutting the Master Bathroom with exception of the flooring, which was still in good shape, and gutting the entire kitchen. Then it starts with day 2 from installing new can lights, switches, door hardware, smoke detectors, organizing all the wires since the tenet had wiring in almost every room, working on electrical, cleaning up and around the yard, installing new tile in the bathroom, plumbing, painting the front door, and I am sure the list goes on; however, a lot has happened. I was there on Monday to accept the delivery of what I thought were our bathroom cabinets but instead we got our kitchen island. It was nice to sort of spend alone time at the house because I was able to take it all in and envision where I would put our furniture that I miss so much! It was just great to be able to take some time enjoy the peace and quiet and just finally be in my home. I am most excited for our little boys. We bring them over from time to time and they have huge smiles on their face because they are running all around, just being boys. I think that means the most to me knowing they will have a lot more space. I did find out there is a little boy just two houses down from us; he is 19 months old too and guess what...his birthday is just a couple days before the boys. I am sure the boys will all be good friends...I can see it now.

The seller had a base cabinet and I asked Steve how possible it was to yank that out and put an actual linen closet in...as you can see...very possible. Thanks honey..!

We received the bathroom cabinets on Thursday. Painters arrived Friday, and so I am hoping to make my way over to the house if not later this afteroon after boys wake up/snack time, then for sure tomorrow. Steve is working on installing all cabinets we received thus far and so I am anxious to see how it all looks. Painters s/b done by Sunday. We get the rest of kitchen cabinets Monday and the counter top for the bathroom. We also received the appliances today, but most likely will not have a functioning kitchen for another week. By the time Steve will be able to install the kitchen cabinets, then we have the template made for the granite, so probably another 2 weeks to fully complete. Well, we are happy to move in and cannot believe time is closing in!
