New Job...

Dear Family and Friends,

I am excited to say that I found a job with a large Pharma company located right here in Irvine/Newport Beach. The company is Allergan, which is a nice 2 minute drive from the apartment. :) Allergan is most known for Latisse (help make eye lashes grow longer) and Botox cosmetics. I started to interview with the company around the first part of September, followed by 2nd rounds two weeks ago. Last week I received a call from my new manager, Sr. Director Human Resources, offering me the position of recruiter. I will start with Allergan as a contractor since she does not have approval just yet for a Full Time position in her immediate department. However, in speaking with her manager there is approval on the table for an opening in Jan. 2011. If all goes accordingly to our conversations that took place during the interview, she will then convert me to an Allergan employee. Currently she has about 8 contractors that are field base, handling sourcing and some full cycle recruitment activity for her sales team. At this time she does not have a contractor that would be interested in becoming an employee. Field based contractors are able to work from home. I cannot say that I blame them. :) However, in reviewing the company's bio and benefits, I would love the opportunity to work for Allergan permanently and will give it more than 100%. I found out about Allergan via networking. Steve and I met a couple while out to dinner one evening. We started talking about careers, one thing led to another and boom...she is in Human Resources working as a recruiter. I sent her my resume and within a week a recruiter from Allergan made contact with me.

I start on Monday, October 11th. We offered the nanny job to our babysitter, Karley, and she has been shadowing me the past few days. As of now, I am pleased that we did not have a complicated search. Steve and anyone close to me understands that I get nervous when we have to look for a nanny...thanks to the media for putting fear in me. :( One of the fears I have as a mom is how my children are cared for when I am not around. I know when I walk out of the door that my kids are in good hands with Karley. She comes from a good home with a positive outlook.
In closing, I am nervous with the transition back to work considering I have not worked since July. I have enjoyed my time with the boys. However, at the same time I am looking forward to a nice balance; contributing to the finances, advancing in my career, and at the end of the day knowing I am coming home to my boys.

Until next time...
