Happy 7-Year Anniversary (10/4/2010)

The blog we created is all about the boys, but I would like to acknowledge a milestone in our own lives! On Monday, October 4, 2010, Steve and I celebrated our marriage of 7 years! Although I had noted our anniversary on the calendar, I was not expecting us to go out. In fact on Sunday I was going to make Steve’s favorite dinner, meatloaf, until he said oh maybe I will go out and get Mexican for us! Since Mexican is one of my favorite dishes I was quick to put the hamburger meat in the fridge for Monday, which was our actual anniversary so it worked out in the end. I just got up from the floor playing with the boys. The funniest thing is if you are on your tummy the boys will climb up on your back and butt and wrestle. They must think it is like a roller coaster. :) In any event, I stood up and all of a sudden I see Miss Karley, our babysitter. I smiled, she smiled, looked at Steve and she said how are things? I was confused for a moment until she said I just came by to hangout. So from there I was like oh, okay. Karley’s sister lives in the complex so I thought that maybe she was visiting her sister and stopped by to see us! However, inside I was thinking she was stopping by to say after thinking about it, she could no longer be our nanny. Steve laughed and said go get ready because I am taking you out to dinner! Needless to say I was delighted and well, pleasantly surprised! :) We said our goodbyes and while getting in our car, I could not stop thinking about where he was taking me. We pull into the parking lot and I should have known. Steve surprised me with dinner reservations to Roy’s, the place we normally go for celebrations. We went quite often to the Roy’s in Chicago and were excited when we found out Roy’s was located in Newport Beach just 15 minutes from our apartment.  I think I can speak on behalf of so many couples that when you reach a milestone of some sort, you cannot help but think about your time together. That is exactly what we did the second half of our evening during dinner (the first half we spent having an appetizer and glass of wine enjoying the Bears football game at the bar). We dated for 5 years before we got married; 12 years total. Looking back, it is amazing how you can laugh at the moments when at the time where so troubling to us, the silly fights that meant absolutely nothing at the age of 22. It truly is a sign of maturity and wisdom that comes with aging. :) We also reflected back on all the times we spent traveling, boating trips, and overall the good times, including some more challenging times that perhaps tested our relationship. We know there is no such thing as perfection, but we continuously give it our all and provide each other with love and support. We always make sure that we discuss everything from how to care for our boys to finances. On the topic of our Jack and Zach, we are extremely proud of our boys and love them more than anything!  We cannot wait to share the rest of our lives with them. They help make us want to become better/stronger people. They help strengthen our marriage each day. They keep us looking forward to the next adventure! Here is to a lifetime of happiness!

I really wanted to share a wedding photo with you but unfortunately we only have soft copies.  In lieu of a wedding photo, I searched our computer for pictures we have of us together, which is only a few. HA! The kicker is I was caught up in the surprise last Sunday that we never got a photo of us together at Roy's. Our table was decorated with confetti, gold and silver stars. In addition, our menu was a tribute to us--highlighted with our names on the inside of the menu, which they give to you as a memento.

P.S. Thank you to everyone for the cards and happy wishes!!! Muah!

Sept. 2010 Angels vs White Sox (we won) Thank you Salamone Builders for the tickets. We had a great time!

August 2008. This was in MN, where my graduation ceremony took place for my graduate program. We had a great weekend.

May 2007. Prior to having kids, Steve and I enjoyed traveling. This was in CA, where we spent a week taking in sights.
 Cheers!
