Sea World

Our weekend was just overall FABULOUS. We started our weekend on Friday as we did not have a care taker so I took the morning shift while Steve went to work and then he took the afternoon shift so I could put in a few hours. It felt good to have that balance. I will post about my morning with the boys later. I absolutely loved my time with the boys. I think all Moms have that secret desire to be home with their children, but I love the balance I have that includes moments like I was given this past Friday, but also enjoy the opportunity to work too! It is a good feeling. Plus…Steve and I LOVE how the boys are playing outside, drop what they are doing, and run and jump in our arms to give the biggest hugs ever when we come home! They say, Mommy – Daddy….Mommy – Daddy. Jack loves to pat us on the back as part of our hug. I enjoy listening to the pucker sound Zach makes when he gives us a kiss. If I don’t hear it I ask him for another kiss but this time with a pucker sound and he comes back to do just that…grabs my cheeks and puckers up! Ha. I love it!

Although the plan was to visit Sea World on Saturday, we opted for Sunday. Steve and I are congested and so we thought it might be best to see the nurse.  Our little guy Zachary has my cough but as it turns out he just has a little virus and so it should go away in a few days. We can definitely tell the tubes are working because he coughs and you can hear phlegm. I am trying to get him to cough it up in a tissue. It is so gosh darn cute watching him to do that. Steve and I have sinus issues; nothing an antibiotic cannot handle. J Steve is thrilled that I am feeling better because apparently I have been snoring so loud that he had to sleep on the sofa one night. Oops. Usually I am the one poking and shoving him to stop snoring. Paybacks…I guess. HA. In any event we kept talking to the boys about Sea World and they were looking forward to our trip. We spent our Saturday evening hanging out playing with our toys and having a guitar/dance jam session.

The boys were having fun playing in their playroom that it took us a little longer to get going, ahem. We even allowed more than enough time too…for this process. We got to Sea World and I get so excited. Steve and I love going to places like this and are fortunate that California has a lot of different amusement parks to pick from. The neat aspect of the parks is that they are designed not just for adults but for kids of all ages.

We started our journey by watching the dolphins. They had a blast watching them and we almost were able to touch quite a few. I could not take pictures because we did get splashed on occasion and was not about to ruin my camera. Next time though, I should get some cool water pics. We purchased a fun card at a great rate so we can go unlimited for the remainder of the year with free admission! Awesome. We targeted all the water features first and we will leave the other areas of the park for another time. For instance they have a special section for little kids with Sesame Street themed activities. I think we need to make that our last stop for next time…close to the exit.  Including the dolphins, during the day we saw sea lions, otters, sharks, turtles, penguins, beluga whales, polar bears, a dog show, and the best for last…Shamu. Although don’t get too excited for that update. Jack was really tired, and although he did great you could tell that he was tired from the activities so we decided to head for home. With our unlimited visit to the park we will add Shamu to the front of the list. From what we did see I look forward to viewing the whole show.

The boys picked out a souvenir from their trip…a penguin that is their new favorite stuffed animal. Over the past few months or longer, they have really been recalling things lately and it just adds a lot of excitement to their growth. I love how animated they get when telling stories…sound effects and all.  Listening to them tell the story about watching the dolphins just melts my heart. It will only get better…and easier. J

Beginning our adventure with dolphins

They loved the dolphins

Otters...feeding time

Sea Lions...and the mean bird...

I thought they were the cutest things...

These birds kept stealing all the food from the sea lions

Shark adventure

The boys enjoyed walking below, seeing the sharks swim above them

Zachary saying hello to the turtles

Penguins...We could not use the flash inside the exhibit but this definitely was neat to see. There were tons of penguins and it reminded me of a documentary, March of the Penguins, that we watched a few months back.

Jackson went crazy in the store...

Getting ready to watch the dog show...

The theme of the show was Pet Olympics

My AWESOME love bugs

The dogs, cats, ducks, and pigs were all trained to perform certain stunts. This was also cool!

Beluga Whales

There was only one Polar Bear...you can see there was not much excitement here...

Shamu making a grand entrance. The seats fill up fast. We were seated near the top because we decided to go at the last minute. Next time we will go a little earlier.

Here are some video clips that I captured during the dog show and sea lions. Absolutely hysterical.

The theme for this part of the dog show was golf

The theme for this part of the cat show was baseball. Look at the top of the cat pole...my goodness.

We loved watching the sea lions. The sounds and interaction with the people were so funny. I could not help myself by taking a few videos.

We had the most amazing time and look foward to when we can return.

Love,
Julie
