Some background history. Just around the time Jack was 4 months we noticed a bump on his right eye brow, pretty much on the brow bone. At that time we took him to a specialist and it was determined he had a dermoid cyst, pretty common in a lot of people. We were given the option of removing it or not. Since they are benign we didn't think much of it until we got a second opinion from the boys' Opthamologist. We were taking them to see her once they were born to check that their retinas were fully developed given they were early; standard check with premies. In any event, she recommended that we have it surgically removed as it could rupture, thus inflaming that area of his eye. So, since the boys were scheduled for their circumcision once they hit 9 months, we then decided to have her piggy back on that surgery to remove the cyst; she did an amazing job and can hardly see the scar. It was a good move since we were nervous anyway putting them under anesthesia (yikes, never had been so nervous in my life). I made sure we got the best Anesthesiologists (Dr. D--specializes in pediatrics) and he took such great care of the boys and kept us updated while they were in surgery!
Advancing us to now, about a couple months back we noticed two more bumps on Jack; on his neck and middle of his head. I took him about a month ago and the one on his neck is just a prominent lymph node. However, she advised us to schedule a follow-up appointment to check the one on his head because he had fallen and bruised his head in that area so the dermatologist was not accurately able to determine if it was a cyst or not. Daddy took Jack early this past Friday morning for the re-evaluation. What we thought could be an Epidermal Cyst (not dermoid) was just bone; area where the bones fuse together. No harm whatsoever!
I have attached a couple of pictures of Jack at our first visit. Since it was his first visit, the nurse asked that we put him in a gown...so darn cute! Enjoy.
